I am so excited to share with y’all my plans to work with Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) this summer! SAF is a non-profit organization based in Durham that strives to raise awareness and resources for migrant workers in the Southeast's agriculture industry. I will be participating in the Into the Fields program, which is designed for students to spend the summer engaging in direct outreach with farmworkers and their families.   I will be interning with the South Carolina Migrant Education Program in Charleston, SC.

Agricultural labor ranks in the top three most dangerous jobs in the US, and workers in the industry face low levels of protections, low wages and poor living and working conditions.  Thanks to SAF, over 100,000 farmworkers and their family members have gained access to health, legal, and education resources since 1992.  

Farmworkers feed our nation, and their hands pick the food that reaches your table. Please consider donating to the farmworker movement in order to support not only SAF, but Into the Fields interns like myself.  These programs would not be possible without your contributions!
