Welcome and THANK YOU for visiting my fundraising page.

My goal is to fundraise $750 by Friday May 11th.

I have been selected by Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) to participate in the 2018 summer Into the Fields Internship. I will be working in North Carolina alongside 20 more interns to serve, organize and advocate for Farmworker Justice.

Student Action with Farmworkers is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve conditions for farmworkers. SAF works with farmworkers and students, to create social justice for farmworkers. Therefore, today I ask you to please support this great organization.

My parents have spent more than half their lives here in the United States than in their own hometown back in Mexico. They both came at a very young age and started their new lives in this  country. Ever since I can remember, my parents have always worked in the fields their whole lives. I have seen all the struggles that they gone and still go through in order to give my brothers and I a better lifestyle. Throughout middle school and high school years  I would go to the states of Oregon, and Washington to work in the seasonal harvests of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. During summer break until the school year started again. Through this experience, I have noticed that many farmworkers regardless of their age do not know how write their own names. Many farmworkers do not know how to read or write, because they did not have the opportunity to attend school. Which is why I am advocating for migrant education. Everyone deserves an opportunity to an education regardless of where they come from or who they are. Therefore, I feel it is my duty to support, and educate  a farmworker regardless of age to at least learn how to write their own names.

Children are the future of this world, which is why education is very important. Especially for children whose families have to travel in order to obtain a seasonal employment in agriculture. I have been part of the Migrant Education, and they have helped me to stay on track in order to graduate in High School as they have helped many other students.  I am very excited to be part of this Internship. I am looking forward to work with the migrant education to promote education, provide resources, and motivation to young teenagers who are also farmworkers. YOU CAN ALSO BE PART OF THIS GREAT CAUSE AND HELP IMPROVE THE LIVES OF FARMWORKERS AROUND THE NATION BY SIMPLY DONATING
