Hello everyone!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! My name is Patricia Valle and I am happy to announce that I have been selected as an intern for the summer 2018 Into the Fields Internship with Student Action with Farmworkers.

Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve working conditions for farmworkers. SAF seeks to bring farmworkers together to learn from one another and advocate for the justice of farmworkers.

This cause is important to me because I myself am the daughter of a migrant farmworker. My father was a farmworker and thanks to his work, my siblings and I were able to attend St. Edward’s University on the CAMP scholarship (College Assistance Migrant Program) which has brought me here.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to give back to this hard working community alongside 24 other interns and fellows. Through SAF I will be working with the South Carolina Migrant Education Program located in Charleston, SC. This program provides support services to children and young adults who often face disruption of their education due to repeated moves by their family. We will also be helping overcome cultural barriers and teaching English.

In order to make these services possible, I am committing to raising $750 by May 30th, 2017. Any donation big or small would help these farmworkers who work hard everyday to provide food for our country. So please join me and donate to this amazing cause! Anything helps!

¡Gracias por visitar mi página de recaudación de fondos! Mi nombre es Patricia Valle y estoy feliz de anunciar que he sido seleccionada para trabajar en el verano de 2018 con el programa ‘Into the Fields’ para Student Action with Farmworkers.

Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) es una organización sin fines de lucro cuya misión es mejorar las condiciones laborales para los trabajadores agrícolas. SAF busca unir a los trabajadores agrícolas para aprender unos de otros y abogar por la justicia de los trabajadores agrícolas.

Esta causa es importante para mí porque yo mismo soy la hija de un trabajador agrícola migrante. Mi padre era un trabajador agrícola y gracias a su trabajo, mis hermanos y yo pudimos asistir a la Universidad de St. Edward’s en la beca CAMP (Programa de asistencia universitaria para inmigrantes) que me trajo aquí.

Estoy agradecida de tener la oportunidad de retribuir a esta comunidad trabajadora junto con otros 24 pasantes y becarios. A través de SAF trabajaré con el Programa de Educación para Migrantes de Carolina del Sur ubicado en Charleston, SC. Este programa proporciona servicios de apoyo a niños y adultos jóvenes que a menudo se enfrentan a la interrupción de su educación debido a las repetidas mudanzas de su familia. También ayudaremos a superar las barreras culturales y a enseñar inglés.

Para que estos servicios sean posibles, me comprometo a recaudar $750 para el 30 de mayo de 2017. Cualquier donación grande o pequeña ayudaría a estos trabajadores agrícolas que trabajan duro todos los días para proporcionar alimentos a nuestro país. ¡Entonces únanse y donen a esta increíble causa! ¡Cualquier cosa ayuda!
