First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. Your contribution is highly appreciated, and I am grateful to have people like you that continue to support me in my goals.

I have always been fascinated by those who leave their country to live in another, and I have turned this fascination into volunteer work, research, and advocacy during my time at Wofford.

My freshman and sophomore years I volunteered as a VITA tax preparer with the sole intention of helping Spanish-speaking Latino immigrants prepare their taxes in a judgment-free, scam-free environment. This experience introduced me to the struggles of being an undocumented immigrant in the United States.

Later, during the fall semester of my sophomore year, I conducted a qualitative research project on the social integration of Nigerian and Ghanaian street vendors living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I spent hours selling clothes on the streets with them, asking them why they left West Africa, observing how the local Argentines regarded them, meeting their dual-nationality families, and teaching them Spanish.

Now, I have been accepted to the Into the Fields Internship hosted by Student Action with Farmworkers, an organization that works with farmworkers, students, and advocates in the Southeast to create a just agricultural system. My placement is the Western North Carolina Workers' Center (WNCWC) which services the poultry processing workers of Morganton, NC. I’ll be helping the WNCWC with labor rights workshops, outreach, and event organization.
