 Hi all! Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. My name is Yair Lopez, and this summer I'm interning with Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) - a non-profit organization that brings together students and farm workers to promote justice, health, and dignity in the agricultural system. 

About Me

I feel personally connected to this cause because I grew up in a community where people worked long hours in tough conditions, in meatpacking, those experiences stayed with me. At times, I've felt a deep, quiet frustration - the kind that comes from knowing how limited your options can feel when certain doors remain closed, no matter how hard you work or try to take control. 

Today, I see members of the farm-working community, both young and older, confronting many of the same systemic barriers and hardships that have shaped my own experience. This recognition compels me to advocate not only for improvements in working conditions but also for greater opportunity and dignity, so that everyone has a fair chance to succeed and live with respect. ​​

SAF and Why it Matters

  Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) is committed to supporting the people who make our food system possible. The workers who plant, harvest, and process our food often face some of the most dangerous and overlooked conditions in the nation, including long hours in extreme heat, exposure to harmful chemicals, and limited access to healthcare. 

SAF works directly with advocacy groups to raise awareness, improve working conditions, and push for lasting change in the agricultural system. Through grassroots advocacy, education, and organizing. SAF hopes to build a future where farmworkers are treated with fairness,dignity, and respect.
