Welcome to my fundraising page for my participation in the

Into the Fields Internship Program!

This summer I have been selected to participate in a leadership development program with Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF).

Every year SAF coordinates a ten-week summer internship and leadership development program that creates opportunities for college students to work in migrant education programs, rural health clinics, legal aid organizations, and adult education programs in the Southeast. Out of 75 applicants from college campuses nationwide, I am one of 30 interns chosen to participate in the 2009 Into the Fields internship program. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity, and I am beyond excited!

SAF provides interns with travel, training, a daily per diem, housing and an academic scholarship.  I am required to raise a minimum of $650 to defray these costs.  Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support our work with farmworkers.

As a student I want to commit myself and devote my energy to social justice. I am relying on the generosity of congregations, academic departments, small businesses and individuals for financial support to make my participation in this internship possible.

Below is the link to the donation page where you can make a contribution online. Thank you so much for your support!

With love,

Rachel

ABOUT Intern/Student Fundraising

Student Action with Farmworkers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to bring students and farmworkers together to learn about each other’s lives, share resources and skills, improve conditions for farmworkers, and build diverse coalitions working for social change.

SAF works with farmworkers, students, and advocates in the Carolinas and nationwide to create a more just agricultural system. Since 1992, we have engaged thousands of students, farmworker youth, and community members in the farmworker movement.
